DAVIS, Calif. – Quarterback Jake Maier recorded 415 passing yards and threw four touchdowns, both career highs, to lead UC Davis past North Dakota in last Saturday’s 48-24 rout over last year’s co-Big Sky champion. By doing so, College Football Performance Awards selected the La Habra, Calif., native as its National Performer of the Week.
The second-year economics major completed 33 of 38 attempts, connected with Wesley Preece for three touchdowns, and Keelan Doss on another to post his first 400-plus passing yard game as an Aggie. This total also doubles as the highest for an Aggie signal caller in the Big Sky era, topping Ben Scott’s 381-yard effort, which took place last season vs. Southern Oregon.
Maier, who has now thrown for 300 yards or more in four of his five starts, is now tied for No. 6 alongside Aggie legend J.T. O’Sullivan for the most passing yards earned in a single game.
UC Davis will look to remain undefeated at home this season when Eastern Washington, the Big Sky’s other co-champion, visits Aggie Stadium for a 6 p.m. matchup on Saturday. Visit UCDavisAggies.com for Brewfest, game or tailgating tickets.
